1.

Why do I need specialized training in Chair Massage?

While any professional bodyworker can massage a client in a seated position it appears that there are enough considerations to make specialized training in Chair Massage important. These considerations include:

  • Having to work through clothing requires non-oil/lotion techniques that may not be easily adaptable from other kinds of bodywork.
  • Massaging a large volume of clients, perhaps 3-4 times as many as table practitioners, necessitates special care in dealing with the body mechanics of practitioners.
  • The short amount of time allotted for a Chair Massage requires special attention to screening clients before they sit in a chair.
  • For massage therapists or other bodyworkers who typically include a treatment intention in their work, being able to understand the more limited scope of practice of Chair Massage is critical.
  • Chair Massage Practitioners must be able to understand the bio-mechanical and hygienic considerations of clients sitting in chairs rather than lying on tables

2.

Do I need to learn table massage before I take a TouchPro Seminar?

The TouchPro Seminars are continuing education (CE) seminars. We do not provide entry-level training into the massage profession. We presume that our students have been educated in such essential areas as human anatomy, physiology, hygiene, and basic touch skills. Therefore, our classes are only open to professional table massage practitioners or students enrolled in a school of professional massage far enough along in their training (generally 150+ hours) to benefit from our program.

A second reason that professional table massage is a prerequisite is because, in most jurisdictions, chair massage practitioners cannot practice unless they have been trained in professional table massage. See our detailed description of prerequisites to our training.

3.

How much do your seminars cost?

Typically the 17-hour Technique Seminar and the 8-hour Marketing Seminar costs US$380. Prices may be different in Canada and occasionally vary in the USA. The tuition includes a complete set of seminar handouts.
If you are retaking the seminars you will receive a $150 discount.

4.

Can I buy your handouts separate from the seminars?

No, the handouts are only available as part of each seminar.

5.

You do not have any Seminars located near me. How do I get training?

Scheduling seminars is an ongoing process and new dates are being added all of the time. If there is not a convenient seminar on the schedule, you can indicate your interest when you register on our website.

We keep track of practitioners seeking seminars by zip code and will email you when we have enough interested people in your area. If you represent an organization interested in sponsoring a TouchPro Seminar, drop us an email or call to let us know.

If you are in another country, where we don't already teach seminars, and would like to sponsor TouchPro trainings, please read about our development considerations before contacting us.
