Sample Letter of Agreement

A business agreement doesn't have to be a complicated affair involving high-priced attorneys arguing over verbal minutiae. For most situations a simple letter of agreement, spelling out the arrangement and signed by both parties will be sufficient. Be certain to include the following:

  • identification of the parties
  • when the contract starts
  • how long it lasts
  • what will be provided by the venue
  • what will be provided by the practitioner
  • how to terminate the agreement

Dear Chris,
Here is my understanding of the arrangements we agreed upon at our meeting yesterday. Please get back to me with any corrections or clarifications. If you are satisfied with these terms, sign one of these copies and return it to me.

1. This agreement covers the provision of Chair Massage services by myself at a promotional event sponsored by LookGood Beauty Supplies on May 21, 22, and 23rd at the LookGood store in the Sunburst Mall.

2. LookGood will provide:

  • eight feet of carpeted square space
  • a small trash can
  • a coat rack
  • payment by the end of the event in the amount of $600.

3. I will provide:

  • 10-minute Chair Massage services from 10 AM until 6 PM each day with a 10-minute break each hour and two half-hour breaks each day.
  • All of the equipment for providing professional Chair Massage including a massage chair, screening forms, hygienic wipes, and face cradle covers.

4. Miscellaneous items:

  • A LookGood staff person will greet the customers, hand them a screening form, schedule them on a waiting list.
  • I certify that I carry my own $2 million professional liability policy.
  • If I am unable to provide the services because of injury, illness, or personal emergency, I will provide a similarly trained and qualified Chair Massage practitioner for this event.
  • If LookGood cancels the event by May 14th the event, then I will require no compensation. If the event is canceled after May 14th LookGood agrees to pay me $300.
